Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov offered to release two dozen Ukrainian prisoners of war. In exchange for this, he wants Western sanctions to be lifted from his family members.
Kadyrov’s statement was published by Russian propaganda channels. Before this speech, a video was shown on camera in which supposedly Ukrainian prisoners of war ask to film «absurd» sanctions against Kadyrov’s minor relatives, his horses and planes.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov, commented on Kadyrov’s proposal. In particular, he was surprised by such a statement for the media, since, according to him, the head of Chechnya knows who to contact with such questions.
« If a person wants to solve something, he knows how and who to contact. If he doesn't know, they will tell him, but believe me, he knows. And offer through the media: «lift the sanctions from my family» third countries and give me my horses that are in another state — this is a little strange, as for me», — he said.
