In the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk, at a snowman competition, a peculiar snow sculpture appeared, attracting attention with its unusualness. This figure, depicting a Russian soldier, was designed in the style of a «reptilian» with a beaver-like face, walrus tusks and a long green tail.
The snowman is dressed in the military uniform of a Russian paratrooper, with a prominent «Z» patch. on camouflage. According to the city administration, the author of this unusual work of art is a military retiree, who created it specifically to participate in a local competition.
Despite its unusual design, the competition organizers claim that the author personified the symbol of the coming year – the Dragon. However, the ugly appearance of the snow sculpture may cause concern for its author, since his work may be associated with the symbolism of the occupation.
In the Russian context, such interpretations may lead to accusations of «discredit» Russian army. However, some see a symbolic message in this act of unusual creativity: after the first snow melts, the occupier snowman in the guise of a «reptilian» will remain only a wet spot.
