According to the Chairman of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant raises serious concerns.
Grossi reported this information in an interview with Deutsche Welle, reports URA-Inform.
Grossi notes that this energy facility is located in a war zone, which creates potential security threats.
«This nuclear power plant is located on the front line where the war is going on . This means that anything can happen at any moment», — he emphasized.
Last year, Grossi outlined at the UN Security Council a number of key principles needed to prevent the worst-case scenario, and he said those principles were now being adhered to.
< p>«Of course, there were cases of outages at Zaporizhzhya NPP, which posed a serious danger, as well as some incidents with drones and isolated kinetic impacts, which, although they did not threaten the safety of the plant, did occur», — noted the head of the IAEA.
According to Grossi, the key aspect of ensuring safety at the Zaporizhia NPP is cooperation.
« That's why I spoke with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky just a few weeks ago. I also visited Russia and held meetings with President Vladimir Putin. It is important that they listen to the recommendations of the IAEA», — he emphasized.
