It is not yet possible to engineeringly strengthen the border with the Russian Federation in the north due to regular shelling by Russian forces.
Liga reported this information, reports URA-Inform.
Representative of the State Border Service Andrey Demchenko said that fortifications are being built «as close as possible» to the border. Therefore, according to him,any engineering group that appears on the border will immediately be destroyed by enemy fire.
« ;These directions are strengthened as much as possible in maximum proximity to the border. At different distances from the border – depending on the situation, topography and terrain features – engineering and fortification structures, firing positions, observation posts, trench lines are created,” explained the border service speaker.
At the same time, Andrei Demchenko emphasized that the main goal of intensifying Russian attacks on the northern regions of Ukraine at the moment is simply terror of Ukrainians.
