Which parent does the child inherit intelligence from: according to the latest scientific research, it turns out that hereditary factors play only a minor role in the formation the child's intellectual abilities are approximately 40-60 percent.
This information was reported by Pixelinfom, reports URA-Inform.
Aspects of a child's intellectual development largely depend on environmental influences. The researchers came to the surprising conclusion that maternal influence plays a key role in this environment.
Scientists' work
Studies have shown that the X chromosome is responsible for the female sex, carries a special intellectual gene. The chromosome from the father also contains this gene, but it remains inactive and the influence on the development of intelligence is manifested only through the maternal line. These phenomena have been proven in experiments on mice.
Interestingly, if a mouse inherits two copies of intelligent genes from its mother, it is born with a small body but a surprisingly large brain. However, if the number of parental genes doubles, the brain becomes smaller and the body larger.
Experimental results
Moreover, research has shown that parental genes largely determine aspects such as sexual behavior, levels of aggression, and dietary preferences. While cognitive functions such as reasoning, analytical abilities and predictive ability are largely dependent on the mother's genetic heritage.
Another study
In addition to these discoveries, another group of scientists has taken a more humane approach to studying the factors influencing the development of intelligence. Over the course of many years, they conducted surveys among young people aged 14 to 22.
The study included 12,686 people from different socioeconomic groups, different levels of education, and different races and ethnicities. It turned out that the IQ of the survey participants differed from the IQ of their mothers by a maximum of 15 points. These results suggest that a mother plays an important role in shaping her child's intelligence, even despite differences in environment and social status. Thus, it becomes clear from which parent the child inherits intelligence.
