A new structural unit has been created in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
This information was reported by the press service of the defense department, URA-Inform reports.
The press service of the defense department reported that the Ministry of Defense has created a logistics support planning department.
It is noted that the main purpose of the new department — formation of long-term procurement plans for the military. In particular, we are talking about food, clothing, fuels and lubricants, as well as logistics equipment.
«We recognize that in times of war we will not be able to completely avoid some emergency procurement requests. But we can reduce the number of such cases. The main task of the Department — formulate an annual plan for the purchase of goods. That is, to minimize the urgent need — when the Ministry urgently needs to purchase something for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Previously, this approach influenced both the quality and price of the product. Therefore, the newly created Department must partially resolve this issue», — noted Deputy Minister of Defense Vitaly Polovenko.
Also among the department’s tasks will be the formation of the volumes necessary for the purchase of goods and services — to meet the needs received from the Logistics Forces Command. In addition, department specialists will research the market, monitor prices and determine the estimated cost. The procurement itself will be carried out by the «State Logistics Operator».
