Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna named two very influential countries in the world that are against inviting Ukraine to NATO.
This information was reported by 24tv, URA-Inform reports.
Ukraine continues to insist that we must become a member of NATO. All allies support the idea of giving Ukraine a formal invitation to join NATO.
However, the United States of America and Germany have caveats. In particular, The New York Times reported that the United States and Germany oppose the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to NATO.
According to Stefanishina, the purpose of this publication was to prepare NATO countries and Ukraine for what decisions to expect or not to expect at the upcoming Alliance summit.
The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration stated that the agenda of issues associated with Ukraine is determined by Ukraine. She emphasized that for Ukraine the issue of an invitation to NATO is on the agenda, and it will remain on the agenda as long as necessary before a decision is made.
«The format of the invitation was proposed by Ukraine itself as a legal guarantee of joining NATO. It's on the agenda. Absolutely all allies support this decision except two. Since this information has become public, the US and Germany are now trying to pay attention to other skeptical allies such as Hungary and Slovakia. But the key position of these two countries is Germany and the United States,” Stefanishina explained.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the United States and Germany are against inviting Ukraine to NATO, because this is no longer just a conversation, but a real solution.
«Because this is a real solution. Invitation — this is a real solution», — she emphasized.
It is worth noting that the NATO summit in Washington will be held from July 9 to 11, 2024 in the US capital, it was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Alliance.
We recall that it was previously reported that Ukraine faces 2 war scenarios: NATO said that they already know.
