The head of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in Armed Conflict, Yuri Belousov, noted that such cases have been recorded since March 2022.
Yuri Belousov reported this information, URA-Inform reports.
According to him, the Office of the Prosecutor General has 27 criminal proceedings regarding the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war. We are talking about killing 54 defenders.
Commenting on the video published on social networks on April 7, Belousov said that it was previously confirmed that the crime occurred near Krynoki in the Kherson region, but the details are still being verified. He called for remembering loved ones and not prematurely voicing the names of fallen heroes.
«Based on this and previous ones, we are also working on the command that is responsible for such actions. We are talking not only about unit commanders, but also about the highest military-political leadership. Because it— not an isolated case, but evidence of the policy of the Russian Federation», — Belousov said.
Also, according to the official, cases of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war have been recorded since March 2022. The court has already sentenced the first Russian military man for executing a defense lawyer in the Chernihiv region. Belousov emphasized that the investigation is complicated by the fact that prosecutors and investigators usually do not have access to the crime scene or the opportunity to examine the body.
«But this work is underway. Ukraine has a unique experience in documenting crimes, even without access to the territory… We work with the International Criminal Court, the UN Monitoring Mission, intelligence agencies and non-governmental organizations who also collect information. Our task now — document, record, tell the world the truth. The criminals will end up in the dock, it's only a matter of time», — added Yuri Belousov.
We recall that it was previously reported that the demobilization of the military: the people's deputy revealed what decision the Rada is going to make.
