The Ukrainian military leadership understands that Russia still has the strength for serious battles. Deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky said that in the foreseeable future the invaders may temporarily seize one of the truly important cities of Ukraine.
URA-Inform reports this, citing The Economist.
Skibitsky directly stated that the occupation of Chasovoy Yar “is only a matter of time.” According to him, the situation with this city is similar to the events that were observed in Avdievka in February. The Russian Federation intends to completely bomb the city for the sake of advancement.
“I don’t want to say that this will happen today or tomorrow. Much depends on our reserves, but these are the realities,” — said Skibitsky.
He emphasized that the loss of Chasovoy Yar would be dangerous for Ukraine, because the Russian Federation would gain a convenient point for attacks on other regions.
“However, the current tactics are extremely exhausting for the Russian Federation. At the same time, the situation for Ukraine is stabilizing. The Russian Federation is throwing virtually all its strength for the sake of small successes, but it is doing this more deliberately than in 2022, so the situation is not easy,” — Skibitsky summarized.
