Recently, a heated debate arose in the Ukrainian parliament regarding the mobilization of citizens liable for military service who are under 25 years of age.
< p>This information was reported by the Telegram channel “Politics of the Country”, reports “URA-Inform”.
Verkhovna Rada Deputy Fyodor Venislavsky stated that the legislative body intends to consider the issue of conscripting this category of citizens in the near future.
Reasons for the initiative
Venislavsky explained that after the abolition of the “limitedly fit” status, a legal conflict arose. Formerly “limitedly fit”, who are now recognized as fit for military service, can be mobilized, while fully healthy citizens under 25 years of age continue to enjoy a deferment.
Social injustice
The parliamentarian emphasized that in society there is an understanding of the social injustice associated with this issue.
“There is a certain injustice when young citizens who are fully fit for military service cannot be mobilized, while those who were previously recognized as limitedly fit are now recognized as fit and are subject to mobilization,” Venislavsky noted .
Possible changes
If parliament decides this issue positively, citizens under 25 years of age who are fully fit for military service will also will be able to be drafted into the army. This could change the balance in the country’s mobilization policy and eliminate current contradictions in legislation.
