Authorized Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets reported that the Russian Federation has begun to transfer some information about prisoners to Ukraine.
This information was reported by Tsn, reports “URA-Inform”.
He noted that in order to make progress in this direction, the allies must put pressure on the aggressor country.
“We have finally started to receive some information from the Russian side regarding the prisoners. We exchanged leaflets during the last exchange. Together with the Russian counter-party, we simultaneously conducted a survey of prisoners of war, those whom Ukraine was returning. In the presence of my employees, the Russian representatives heard words of gratitude,” the ombudsman said.
Also, as Lubinets noted, in the presence of Ukrainian representatives, the aggressor country heard about torture, failure to provide medical care, and even loss of limbs due to the fact that people were not provided timely medical care on Russian territory.
“We expect that there will be a reaction, at least we have planned a discussion of all this information we have heard,” Lubinets emphasized.
The Ombudsman expressed the hope that these actions, in the end, will lead to the enemy side allowing representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross to see the prisoners of the Ukrainian army. Lubinets noted the need to put pressure on Moscow and the ICRC to ensure compliance with international obligations regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.
«I don’t know how much more pressure we should put on the Russians and the ICRC so that the Russians finally begin to fulfill their international obligations, and we stop returning our prisoners of war in such a terrible physical condition. We confirm that our prisoners in Russia died from torture «, — added Dmitry Lubinets.
Recall that it was previously reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a new success at the front: experts have found out where Ukraine defeated the Russian Federation again.
