Adviser, Office of the President Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak announced Ukraine's readiness to begin negotiations with the Russian Federation.
This information was reported by Radio NV, URA-Inform reports.
However, he said, these negotiations must be based on clear principles related to international law.
“Negotiations are certainly necessary. Ukraine is ready for negotiations, but Ukraine clearly says: let's negotiate on terms based on international law as a concept. And the main thing from this concept is the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state,” Podolyak emphasized.
He noted that these fundamental principles should become the cornerstone of any dialogue between Kiev and Moscow.
It is noteworthy that the above-mentioned statement was made against the backdrop of comments by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who had previously spoken about the need for Ukraine to begin negotiations with Russia without waiting for the complete liberation of all occupied territories.
Stubb emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts in resolving the conflict, expressing concern about the protracted confrontation.
Nevertheless, Ukraine's position remains unwavering: territorial integrity and sovereignty are inviolable. Podolyak emphasized that any negotiations should proceed from the recognition of these principles.
Ukraine has repeatedly stated its commitment to international norms and readiness for constructive dialogue. However, Russian aggression and occupation of Ukrainian territories remain the main obstacles to peace.
