Today, on Ukraine's Independence Day, Polish President Andrzej Duda, known as a great friend of the Ukrainian people, arrived in the country.
URA-Inform reports on the visit, citing the Ukraine 365 Telegram channel.
On the morning of August 24, Duda arrived in Kyiv by train to take part in the ceremonial events and meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Duda's administration recalled that the Polish president had already taken part in the celebrations of the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine twice, in 2016 and 2021. Poland, by the way, was the first country to recognize Ukraine's independence.
Meanwhile, the US and German embassies addressed their citizens in Ukraine with a warning about possible massive strikes from Russia on Independence Day, including threats to Kiev. They recommended leaving the country. However, these threats did not stop the Polish president. This is Duda's seventh visit to Ukraine in the past two and a half years, since Russia's full-scale invasion. He was one of the first world leaders to visit Kyiv after the invasion began, arriving in the capital on April 13, 2022, along with the leaders of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Poland has provided significant support to Ukraine in the war, providing military equipment and hosting millions of refugees. In addition, Poland is actively speaking out on the international stage, calling for increased sanctions against Russia and increased aid to Ukraine.
It is also worth mentioning that Umerov urgently contacted the head of the Pentagon for the third time in 10 days: it is known what they talked about.
