Last night, Russian troops again attacked Ukrainian territory using a variety of weapons, including ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones. However, thanks to the effective work of the Ukrainian air defense, most of the enemy weapons did not reach their targets or were successfully destroyed.
This was reported by the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, as cited by URA-Inform.
On the night of August 25, Russian troops attacked the frontline regions of Ukraine, using various types of missiles. The Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions were attacked.
According to Lieutenant General Oleshchuk, the Russians used ground-based missiles for these attacks, including the Iskander-K cruise missile and the Iskander-M ballistic missile, which were launched from the Voronezh and Rostov regions of Russia. The enemy also used six Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missiles, which were launched from the airspace of the Kursk and Belgorod regions.
Thanks to active counteraction by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, most of these missiles did not reach their targets and were destroyed on approach.
In addition to the missile strike, Russian troops used nine Shahed kamikaze drones, which were launched from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea. However, the Ukrainian air defense once again demonstrated its effectiveness – eight out of nine drones were shot down by mobile fire teams in the Nikolaev region.
Recall that Ukraine took away an important advantage from the Russian Federation: in what the Ukrainian Armed Forces have become stronger.
