President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that dialogue with Russian leader Vladimir Putin is currently pointless because Putin is not interested in ending the war through diplomacy. Instead, he seeks to use “diplomacy” as a tool to seize Ukrainian territory.
As reported by URA-Inform, citing the OPU YouTube channel, Zelensky told under what conditions Putin wants to end the war.
Zelensky noted that Putin essentially wants Ukraine to cede 30% of its land.
“Dialogue with Putin is pointless now. He does not seek to end the war diplomatically. He prefers to “diplomatically” achieve the transfer of 30% of our territory to him,” Zelensky said, making it clear that Ukraine is not ready for such a compromise.
At the same time, Ukraine has legally banned peace talks with Russia in the current conflict. Despite this, Kyiv is actively working to present its peace plan at the second international summit. There is hope that Russia may take part in this event. However, after the fighting in the Kursk region, the Russian Federation denies the possibility of negotiations.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War confirm that the Ukrainian conditions for the peace plan are justified, while the Russian demands clearly contradict international norms. This creates serious obstacles to achieving a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
It is worth noting that although the events in the Kursk region may delay the start of negotiations, Zelensky spoke about an important result of the fighting in the Russian Federation.
