In 2024 year, the number of ground robots used in combat operations will increase significantly. The corresponding statement was made by the head of the GUR, Kirill Budanov.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing The Economist.
Budanov noted that the development of ground robots is at an early stage, but is already proving its effectiveness on the battlefield. According to him, preference in modern conflicts is given to robotic systems and drones, rather than sending live soldiers into battle.
“If you can send 10 drones or one soldier, they will always choose drones. People are in no hurry to fight now,” the head of the GUR emphasized.
According to Budanov, the main weakness of a person in war is fear, while while robots do not experience such emotions. This makes them much more effective in dangerous and difficult conditions. However, with the development of unmanned technologies, there is also progress in electronic warfare (EW), which is actively used to counter drones and robots.
“Drones have become the hallmark of this war and will most likely remain so for the next 50 years.” , — Budanov added.
He noted that the development of unmanned systems and methods of combating them will proceed in parallel, determining the shape of future armed conflicts.
