Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Poland's Radoslaw Sikorski has clarified his proposal to transfer Crimea to a UN mandate, which has drawn criticism in Ukraine. According to Sikorsky, the discussion was hypothetical and took place in expert circles.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing RAR.
This idea, in Sikorsky's understanding, concerned the concept world of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky himself, who spoke about the need for diplomatic steps to return Crimea.
“We discussed the possibility of implementing President Zelensky’s proposals on the diplomatic return of Crimea,” Sikorsky noted, specifying that this was part of an informal discussion among experts.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that Poland's position on Ukraine's territorial integrity remains unchanged:
“Warsaw supports Ukraine, and there is no doubt about that.”
It is worth noting that Sikorski previously proposed one option for resolving the Crimean issue: transferring the peninsula to a UN mandate with the possibility of holding a referendum in 20 years. This statement caused indignation in Kyiv, where they emphasized that the country's territorial integrity cannot be the subject of compromise or discussion.
Recall that the Russian Federation is wary: Ukraine may receive a new type of powerful weapon from the United States.
