Director of the Research Center energy specialist Alexander Kharchenko noted that in Ukraine the start of power outages will depend on how quickly the cold weather comes.
URA-Inform reports this with reference to Glavred.
According to him, the duration could be two to four hours, or 14 to 16. In some cities, even longer power outages could occur.
“The most difficult situation is in Kyiv, Odessa and Kharkov. These are the three cities where it will be the most difficult in any case. It just so happened historically that they depend on external energy supply, and they also have huge energy consumption inside. But even in these cities, the task of maintaining critical infrastructure will be possible,” the expert emphasized.
The expert also said how long power outages could last when it gets cold in Ukraine. However, the duration will be affected not only by the weather outside, but also by possible Russian attacks and, for example, various events at nuclear power units.
“Temperatures in the range from 0° to +5° will mean certain restrictions for 2-4 hours. If the temperature is from -10° to -15°, especially not for two days, but for two weeks, then the restrictions will continue for 14-16 hours a day. Everything depends very much on what kind of attacks there will be, where they will be directed, how successful they will be and what kind of weather conditions there will be in winter,” the specialist emphasized.
It will also be useful to learn how to increase the temperature in the house in winter: you only need one item.
