Reserve Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan predicts that in the near future Russian troops will try to push Ukrainian forces out of the Rabotin wedge.
This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to Dialog.
He noted that last year the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced more than 10 km into Russian positions in the Rabotin area. However, after the capture of Ugledar, the Russians may try to “cut off” this wedge, straightening the front line, since a new logistics route from the Russian Federation to Donbas has appeared.
«That is why the Russians pushed our troops out of Ugledar. They received virtually unimpeded passage by rail from Rostov through Kamysh-Zarya towards the same Rabotino. Now quite large numbers of troops can be pumped there and then move towards Zaporozhye,» the military expert emphasized.
However, according to Svitan, an offensive on Zaporozhye should not be expected earlier than next year, and for now the Russians will focus on pushing Ukrainian forces out of the Rabotinsky district.
«That is why it was impossible to leave Ugledar. By holding this city, we kept the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya directions from the transfer of a large number of Russian troops, the colonel explained.
The expert also spoke earlier about the loss of Ugledar and that the Russian Federation's efforts will now be directed at the two regional centers.
