The largest in Europe a snake listed in the Red Book was spotted in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
URA-Inform reports this with reference to Nashemisto.
Zoologist Viktor Gasso warned about the dangerous feature of the reptile. He noted that the Caspian or yellow-bellied snake can reach 2.5 meters in length. However, the snake is known not only for its significant size, but also for its extremely aggressive nature. According to him, the defense of this reptile is an attack.
Gasso said that the yellow-bellied snake is rare and most likely the snake lives in almost all southern regions of the Dnipropetrovsk region – from Krivoy Rog to Pavlograd.
“This species is interesting because, unlike poisonous snakes, it attacks humans first. You walk along the path , you are not bothering anyone and suddenly a one and a half meter snake throws itself at your head. This would make anyone's soul run to their heels, but the aggressor has no intention of biting. His task is to scare and hide. And he usually succeeds in this. The snake is big, as thick as a child’s arm,” Victor Gasso noted.
At the same time, Africans are frightened by the heavy snowfall: in some places, the snowdrifts reach up to two meters.
