New research by scientists from the University of California, San Francisco, showed both the positive and negative impact of cycling on men's health.

Experts have dispelled the myth that cycling increases the risk of impotence. On the contrary, men who regularly ride bicycles have fewer such problems than those who engage in other sports.
The study involved about 4,000 male exercise enthusiasts, who were divided into groups: cyclists, runners and swimmers. All participants had similar age indicators, body weight and health. The study found that cycling in general has a positive effect on men's health, but cyclists are more likely to experience numbness in the perineal area. Scientists advise getting up from the seat periodically while riding to avoid this unpleasant symptom.
However, the study also showed that cyclists are 2.5 times more likely to develop urethral stricture (narrowing of the urethra), which can develop as a result of injuries sustained from falls.
