Although The toilet is traditionally considered one of the most unsanitary places in the house, a study has shown that gadgets can be much dirtier.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Ukr.media.
As is known, headphones, laptops, mice, keyboards and mobile phones accumulate thousands of bacterial colonies, as they come into daily contact with hands and become a “magnet” for dirt and germs.
Scientists have studied 38 gadgets, and also took samples from trash cans, bus handrails, and toilet seats. Headphones were the dirtiest devices, with an average of 1,073 colonies of bacteria found on them, twice as many as a toilet (425 colonies) and close to trash can levels. In some cases, headphones had more than 3,000 colonies.
Laptops came in second with an average of 645 colonies, some of which had more bacteria than trash cans. Computer mice had 408 colonies, keyboards — 237, and the cleanest were mobile phones with 187 colonies.
Among the microorganisms detected were Staphylococcus and Micrococcus, and Pseudomonas was found on some devices. Keyboards, touchpads and phones are particularly prone to mold accumulation, which highlights the need regular cleaning of these devices.
Recall that earlier it was reported that a simple trick before charging the phone: the battery holds a charge twice as long.
