Russian Officials Maria Zakharova and Tatyana Moskalkova stated that Ukraine is allegedly disrupting prisoner exchanges and does not want to take back its fighters.
URA-Inform reports this with reference to Lubinets.
In particular, Russian propagandists stated that Ukraine allegedly agreed to take only 279 Ukrainian servicemen from captivity out of, according to them, the proposed 935. They also added that Ukraine allegedly has not given its consent to accept servicemen from the 102nd, 126th, and 118th separate brigades for over a year.
In addition, Zakharova noted that Kyiv allegedly does not want to respond to the “repeated calls” of the Russian Federation to “intensify the exchange process.”
The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets reacted sharply to such statements. He stated that he wants to receive from the Russian Federation Commissioner for Human Rights all lists of Ukrainian prisoners of war that the aggressor country is urgently ready to return.
Recently, the Russian side stated that Ukraine “does not give consent” to take back certain of its prisoners of war. That is why I am asking the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation to provide me with these lists of Ukrainian citizens,” the official said.
He noted that Ukraine is always ready to accept all lists and all of our citizens. However, statements by representatives of the aggressor state are only a method of influencing our people.
We are always ready to conduct prisoner of war exchanges! We adhere to the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law! Usually, it is the Russian Federation that slows down these processes. And it uses this as a method of influencing Ukrainian society,” Lubinets added.
Recall that earlier it was reported that Kadyrov cancelled his order banning the capture of Ukrainian military personnel, — ISW.
