British scientist Johnjoe McFadden, a professor at the University of Surrey, has proposed a theory that the source of human consciousness may be the electromagnetic fields of the brain.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Medicalxpress.
He believes that these fields contain information about our thoughts and feelings and, by combining the data, create a holistic perception of the world that shapes a person's personality. McFadden suggests that the brain's electromagnetic field may be a kind of “soul” and admits that it could be preserved even after death.
The scientist also suggests that understanding the mechanisms of consciousness could make it possible to create an artificial analogue, thanks to which robots will be able to make independent decisions, and not just follow given algorithms.
McFadden gives an example: children easily solve practical problems, such as untangling a bicycle chain, while modern AI is not yet capable of this.
Recall that it was previously reported that astronauts will conduct a major experiment on the Moon: it could become a breakthrough in the construction of housing on the Earth's satellite.
