PrivatBank has revealed why even the most cautious clients can suddenly discover that money has disappeared from their cards.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to PrivatBank.
It is reported that the client contacted PrivatBank after a payment she had no idea about appeared on her statement. As it turned out, the unknown transaction went through without any confirmation, and also exceeded the limit on online payments. After the complaint, the bank blocked her card, but did not guarantee a refund.
PrivatBank responded to the incident by stating that their security systems are constantly being improved. However, they cannot guarantee perfect security, especially if the criminal has already gained access to key card data – such as the CVV code, card number and expiration date. Fraudsters can obtain this information not only due to the user's carelessness, but also through other sophisticated methods.
“Fraudsters could have obtained your card data not only due to the client's carelessness. We have already encountered situations where this happened thanks to surveillance cameras in stores, unscrupulous security guards or unreliable websites,” — noted in the bank.
That is, each card owner, although protected by modern systems, may find themselves alone with fraudsters who invent new tricks.
