Products from genuine leather is valued for its strength, durability and elegant appearance, but it has become more difficult to distinguish it from high-quality leatherette today.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Radiotrek.
Earlier genuine leather was identified by its characteristic smell and texture, but now manufacturers have learned to make leatherette with a very similar texture and even add fragrances.
However, there is a simple way to check the naturalness of leather: its ability to absorb moisture. To conduct the test, you can attach a damp cloth to the product in the store for just 10 seconds.
If the leather is truly genuine, it will absorb the moisture, leaving a temporary mark that will disappear after drying.
As you know, leatherette does not absorb water , and therefore a damp mark will not appear on the product. For this test, it is better to use wipes without alcohol and oils, so as not to damage the material.
It will also be interesting to learn about what the handles above the door in the car are for: the real purpose of this “tool” is named.
