Head of the fund “Come back alive,” ATO veteran Taras Chmut responded to the statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Litvinenko that another 160 thousand people need to be called up to staff the brigades by 85%.
This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to DW .
Chmut emphasized that although the teams are usually listed as full on paper, in reality the situation often looks different.
«Our brigade can be staffed at 50%. And if you ask the battalion commander how many riflemen and infantry there are, then the company can have 15 people, 20 people, 25 people. But on paper there seem to be a lot of people. You have a staffed headquarters, rear, communications, drones, snipers, reconnaissance, some artillery, mortars, and so on. But there is no infantry,” he said.
He noted that mobilization of 160 thousand people into the army is insufficient. For effective defense of Ukraine it is necessary to call up about 500 thousand people, this is an “adequate figure”.
«And we haven't been talking about the quality of people for a long time. We're just talking about some people. These numbers – they're just numbers. They're very far from reality . 500 thousand – this is an adequate figure”, – added Chmut.
Recall that earlier it was reported that Ukraine plans to change its approach to mobilization: the Verkhovna Rada named three scenarios.
