Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently suggested that the war in Ukraine could end in the coming months, but only if the United States maintains full support for Kyiv.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Bloomberg.
Trudeau stressed that Canada, along with other allies, is committed to achieving a victory for Ukraine and a speedy end to the conflict.
«It is possible that circumstances will arise in the coming months to end the conflict,— he noted, but did not elaborate, leaving open the question of possible political and diplomatic steps.
At the same time, Trudeau expressed concern that support for Ukraine could be at risk if the US administration changes and Donald Trump returns to power. According to the Canadian Prime Minister, ending the war on terms acceptable to Ukraine is only possible with the continued support of the US government, since other allies will not be able to fully compensate for such a refusal.
In addition, Trudeau commented on the need to maintain dialogue with Vladimir Putin, despite the low level of trust in the Russian leader. The Prime Minister noted that peace and an end to violence require a certain level of interaction with the leaders of even those countries whose positions contradict democratic principles.
However, not everyone in the West is so optimistic: Musk ridiculed Zelensky's statement about an independent position on the negotiation process.
