Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin signed an updated nuclear doctrine, but, as political strategist Alexei Golobutsky claims, this step has no real significance for the use of tactical nuclear weapons.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Comments.
< p>According to him, if the new doctrine had really changed anything, Ukraine would already be facing the consequences of nuclear strikes. The expert notes that, with both the old and the new doctrine, Putin has no real obstacles to using nuclear weapons, except fear for his own survival.
Golobutsky believes that the doctrine update is more an element of a psychological game between NATO and the Kremlin than a real basis for launching a nuclear attack. This is a rhetorical step aimed at creating tension.
«In reality, Putin will cause damage in other places: he will provide missiles to the Houthis, cut cables and blow up pipelines, and continue sabotage at large weapons production facilities in Europe and America. By the way, these are very unpleasant things for the West. Because this is not a war, but on the other hand, it means huge costs and violations of defense capability, a threat to sovereignty. And Putin has already started to pester NATO countries in this way, the expert emphasized.
According to Golobutsky, on the other hand, Putin's policy only strengthens the cohesion of NATO countries and stimulates the strengthening of defense cooperation against Russia. In addition, this pushes the alliance to more active support for Ukraine, which today effectively weakens Moscow's military power.
At the same time, it became known what will happen if the United States cuts aid: Zelensky stunned with a statement.
