According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, from January next routes of emergency medical care will be coordinated with the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health reported that from January 2025, ambulance crews will transport patients with serious conditions to specialized institutions, and not to the nearest hospitals.
They noted that not all hospitals have the appropriate equipment, so this decision should optimize the provision of assistance and save precious time for seriously ill patients, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine explained.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made the relevant changes to the Procedure for the functioning of hospital districts and clusters and the establishment of their boundaries.
“For many years, there was a practice when the ambulance delivered the patient to the nearest hospital. However, the nearest hospital does not always have the necessary capacity, specialists and equipment. Because of this, the patient and doctors lost precious time. After all, such serious conditions as a stroke, heart attack or multiple trauma require urgent medical intervention. In particular, a capable network of medical institutions was created to solve this issue. The ambulance will take patients to clearly defined medical institutions that are equipped for effective treatment,” said Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.
He also added that the new logistics will include not only municipal hospitals, but also other healthcare institutions that are subordinate to the Ministry of Health. Among them will be institutions of higher medical education, the National Academy of Medical Sciences and the State Administration of Affairs.
“This means that such well-known medical institutions as, for example, the Heart Institute or the Feofaniya Hospital, will now be open to everyone. And, accordingly, they should also be on the routes,” Lyashko explained.
