You can sharpen a knife in a meat grinder yourself, using only fine-grained sandpaper.
< h2 class="wp-block-heading">How does a meat grinder work and why is it important to sharpen the knives?
The principle of a meat grinder is similar to scissors: the products are chopped between the mesh and the blade of the screw. If these surfaces are dull, the meat will not cut well and get stuck. To check the sharpness, you can conduct an experiment: insert a strip of paper into the hole in the grid, put a screw on top and turn it. If the sharpening is poor, the paper will bend instead of cutting smoothly.
Stages of sharpening knives:
1. Lay out a sheet of sandpaper on a flat surface.
2. Take the screw, press it onto the paper and rotate it in a circular motion counterclockwise until the surface becomes smooth and shiny.
3. Repeat the same steps with the grid so that both the parts were equally polished.
When assembling the meat grinder, connect these parts only with the polished sides. This will create the effect of “self-sharpening scissors”, which will increase the efficiency of the work. Also, do not forget to thoroughly wash all parts before use, to remove sanding residues.
It will also be interesting to learn how to forget about dust for weeks: a penny method has been named.
