Journalist and Military and political observer Vitaly Portnikov identified three possible scenarios for the development of events for Ukraine.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Dialog.
The first option is a conditional victory for Ukraine, which includes joining NATO and the European Union, possibly without the full restoration of all territories. In this case, Russia's ambitions will be weakened, and the country will remain under international sanctions:
«This is a unipolar world. I don't think we will remain in it, but there is such a possibility. The West can preserve peace if it wants. It just needs effort».
The second option is Russia's victory. In this case, Ukraine will disappear from the political map, its territories will be partially annexed, and the remaining parts may become satellites of the Russian Federation.
Portnikov believes this scenario is quite likely within the next four years. In this case, Russia will become the political hegemon of Europe, an equal partner of China and the United States, which will be reckoned with, since Europeans will be afraid of its power.
«Europe will essentially become a continent of fear: from Lisbon to Vladivostok».
The third option is a continuation of the conflict with the possible emergence of new wars. In this case, the world will remain bipolar:
«We all understand that in this case, the keys to ending the conflict are in Beijing. The only leader who can stop this whole nightmare is Xi Jinping, but he does not stop it. If he stops supporting Russia, the war in Ukraine will end».
Portnikov concluded that, depending on the outcome of events, the world will either remain bipolar or become unipolar if the West continues to support Ukraine, or multipolar if Russia succeeds in realizing its ambitions.
At the same time, the Kremlin has begun to prepare Russians for the end of the war with Ukraine.
