Elected President USA Donald Trump named the purpose of his first foreign trip after winning the US election.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to The New York Times.
It is reported that Trump intends to attend the grand opening of the renovated Notre Dame Cathedral (Notre Dame de Paris), which has completed its reconstruction after a fire five years ago. The visit to Paris will be his first international trip since winning the election. The opening of the cathedral is scheduled for Saturday, December 7.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed admiration for the cathedral, calling it a “magnificent and historic building,” and said he was honored to be part of the event. He also praised French President Emmanuel Macron for his efforts to restore Notre Dame to its former glory and beyond expectations.
“This is going to be a special day for everyone!” Trump added.
Trump’s visit has been discussed for several days by his team and Macron’s office, with the leaders speaking by phone at least once, according to people familiar with the plans.
President Joe Biden is not expected to attend the event, but First Lady Jill Biden is expected to be among the guests, a person familiar with the matter told Western media. According to CNN, the invitation to Trump to attend the reopening of Notre Dame was sent by the French government.
At the same time, Orban may begin a new mission in Ukraine: a special conversation with Trump has become known.
