In Ukraine, cats and dogs are most often chosen as pets, but sometimes there are more unusual pets.

Thus, in Kyiv, a tame otter was noticed, which was calmly walking with its owner. The animal was so accustomed to people that it did not pay attention to passers-by, and enthusiastically dug in fallen leaves.
According to the owner, the otter lives in an apartment, where they have equipped her with a place to swim in the bathtub. In the summer, she is taken out to swim in the Dnieper. The owners note that they do not let the pet near other animals to avoid possible problems.
«She wants to communicate with the dogs, but we do not let her. Since she has such teeth… she can strangle a dog,», they said.
It is worth noting that otters belong to the mustelid family, which also includes martens, weasels, ermines and other predators. Despite their cute appearance, these animals have a reputation as fierce hunters. Among their relatives, otters are considered the calmest and smartest, but even they have a tendency to act impulsively – first bite and then think. Because of this, it is difficult for them to get along with other animals.
Also, keeping an otter in the house is associated with certain difficulties. It requires access to water, space and regular feeding, including mainly fish, which is accompanied by a characteristic smell. These animals are very active and curious, so they often make a mess.
Despite all the difficulties, the cute face and unusual appearance of this animal evoke affection and admiration.
