Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces command of organizing “meat assaults” and called for abandoning the offensive and starting the “rescue” of Ukrainian soldiers.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the TV channel “Politics of the Country”.
He expressed concern about the current tactics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, claiming that attacks on positions occupied by Russian troops lead to significant losses among the Ukrainian military. Poroshenko proposed revising the approach to military action, emphasizing the importance of preserving human resources.
In particular, the politician recommended temporarily focusing on defense, which, according to him, can be compared to Russia's actions in the spring of 2023. He also noted the need to build fortifications that will help minimize losses among military personnel. In his opinion, one of the reasons for the mistakes made is insufficient information about real losses:
“They are afraid to report to the top that we are losing this forest.”
In conclusion, he noted:
“We just need to stop working on TV and start working to save soldiers.”
Poroshenko's statements sparked active discussion among military experts and politicians. Some supported his position, noting the importance of protecting personnel, while others emphasized the need to continue active offensive operations to contain Russian aggression.
At the same time, the Russian Federation began talking about ending the war in Ukraine: Lavrov named a number of conditions.
