Scientists have done shocking discovery: 12 severed right hands found in ancient Egyptian burial pits.

The results of the study indicate that of the 12 severed hands, 11 belonged to men and one to a woman. Scientists suggest that this may be evidence of a terrible ritual known as “gold of honor.”

The essence of this practice was that the warriors of the pharaoh brought the severed hands of their enemies as proof of their victory. For this they received prestigious awards, such as a “necklace of gold beads”. This supports the idea that the “gold of honor” ritual was common among the ancient Egyptians.
