In the top cities with the most Odessa, Dnepr and Chernivtsi have a high level of corruption today.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the results of the IRI survey “Ratings of Ukrainian cities”.
However, Chernihiv, Sumy and Lutsk are at the bottom of the anti-rating. The most corrupt areas remain medical and educational institutions, although it is in these areas that positive changes have occurred over the past 5 years.
Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organization of State Authority, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Development Olena Shulyak noted that the areas where there has been no improvement over this period of time are city government, courts and the prosecutor's office.
According to her, the top five cities with the highest level of corruption, according to respondents, include Lviv, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Odessa and Poltava. The top five cities with the lowest level include Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Lutsk and Kropyvnytskyi.
“We can talk about overcoming corruption at all levels, but it is the opinion of citizens in this regard that should be a quality indicator. And Ukrainians express themselves quite clearly in this regard. Thus, 35% of respondents note that self-enrichment, unfortunately, still remains the key factor in decision-making by local council deputies. 34% of respondents note that personal connections with local council deputies remain very important for resolving issues,” Shulyak stated.
Recall that it was previously reported that a rating of cities by real estate costs was published: how many years Ukrainians need to work for an apartment.
