Ministry of Defense Russia said on December 11 that it would respond to the attack on the airbase with what it claims are six missiles supplied by the United States.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing Bloomberg.
Deputy Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said that as of today, there is a possibility of a second strike by the Russian army on Ukraine with the Oreshnik missile. This is an experimental medium-range ballistic missile.
According to the US Defense Department spokeswoman, Vladimir Putin had previously publicly announced about plans to launch another rocket from the Oreshnik complex.
“That “That Russia could launch it (the missile, – ed.) in the coming days is possible. I can't give you an exact date,” – Singh emphasized.
The Pentagon press secretary noted that if Moscow decides to launch Oreshnik, it “will not fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield” and “will simply be another attempt to cause harm and victims in Ukraine.”
Singh assured that America and its allies will continue to support Kyiv, including with air defense systems.
At the same time, the Russian Federation made a new decision on nuclear weapons : Putin made an official statement.
