Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development research (OECD) has identified alarming trends in education and skills around the world.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing Dialog.UA.
According to the report, there is a noticeable deterioration in the level of literacy and professional competence among many adults, which could pose a threat to economic growth and stability in the global labor market.
One of the most serious aspects of the study is the decline in the level of basic skills, such as reading and solving mathematical problems.
More than 20% of the world's population demonstrates skills corresponding to primary school, which creates huge problems in the workplace. Such basic skills become an obstacle to the effective performance of professional duties and reduce labor productivity.
This problem especially hampers economic development in countries where educational systems have failed to adapt to modern requirements and challenges. The decline in literacy among the “zoomers” generation (16-24 years) is also a concern, as young people who lack the necessary knowledge face difficulties in the labour market.
The OECD stresses the importance of reforming education systems to take into account modern requirements, such as digital technologies and innovative approaches to teaching.
Remarkably, scientists have created bacteria that can destroy humanity.
