Future Special Envoy Donald Trump on Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg said that Moscow and Kyiv are ready to discuss peace.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the Advocate of Law telegram channel.
It is noted that the above-mentioned statement has caused heated discussions in diplomatic circles, since at the moment the parties to the conflict maintain tough positions.
According to Kellogg, an active role of international mediators, such as the UN and OSCE, is necessary to advance the negotiation process.
However, experts note that the key condition for the beginning of a real dialogue remains the cessation of hostilities and the creation of a neutral platform for discussions.
Ukrainian officials emphasize that any peace treaty must take into account territorial integrity of the country and provide international security guarantees. Russia, in turn, continues to advance its conditions, which complicates the search for a compromise.
The US also announced a new potential participant in the peace talks.
