Harvard researchers identified the key signs of a silent heart attack, a condition that often goes unnoticed due to the weak expression of symptoms.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Ukr.media.
According to Harvard University professor George Platsky, many people who have had a silent heart attack do not seek medical help, not realizing that their health and life are at risk. This increases the likelihood of a second, more dangerous attack.
“Symptoms of a life-threatening condition can be so mild and last so long that they are often mistaken for ordinary discomfort. However, as a result, the heart begins to work worse, scars appear on it,” the scientist said.
Among the symptoms that the professor identifies are the following:
- discomfort in the center of the chest, accompanied by a pressing pain that lasts for several minutes or disappears, but soon returns;
- unpleasant sensations in one or both arms, back, neck, lower jaw or abdomen;
- difficulty breathing;
- sudden onset of cold sweat;
- dizziness;
- nausea.
Ignoring these signs can lead to serious consequences, so if any of them appear, it is important to urgently consult a doctor.
