The US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said that Ukraine and Russia are close to exhaustion in the war, so they are ready for peace talks.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Fox News.
According to him, the situation on the battlefield, where both sides are losing a lot of troops, is forcing them to do so. Kellogg expressed his conviction that it is high time for Ukraine and Russia to agree on peace, given the situation on the battlefield, which indicates the exhaustion of both sides.
“Yes, I think both sides are ready. It's like a cage fight: two fighters want to knock each other out, but you need a referee to stop it. I think President Donald Trump can be that referee,” he said.
At the same time, Kellogg noted that the war has already led to colossal losses: about 350-400 thousand Russian troops and 150 thousand Ukrainians. In his opinion, this is the moment when both sides should “step back” and start negotiating.
Kellogg is confident that Donald Trump has the energy, vision and ability to become a mediator in peace negotiations.
“I believe that President Trump, who made such a promise during the election campaign, will fulfill it. I think it could happen this year,” Kellogg said.
At the same time, the West accused Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the war: it became known who spoke out.
