Minister of Justice Denis Maliuska reported that Russian hackers were able to delete information from one of the most closed registries during an attack on Ukrainian State Registers.

However, he assured that this does not pose any threat, since the state has backup copies with which it is easy to restore all data.
“The vast majority of information that the Russians say they stole was already freely available. The only exception to this rule was information from the State Register of Civil Status Acts – this is one of the most closed registries, where information is stored that, it would seem, is no secret – that someone was born or got married. But at the same time, there is a secret that is strictly guarded by law – the secret of adoption,” he said.
Malyuska also noted that this is far from the first Russian attack on Ukrainian state resources since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. However, this attack is somewhat different from the previous ones.
“Previously, judging by their statements, they focused on stealing information. Now they have not only stolen, but also destroyed. This is a change in the behavior of Russian hackers,” Maliuska noted.
