British edition of The The Guardian reported that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly ordered air defense units to transfer their troops to the infantry.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to The Guardian.
According to The Guardian's sources, the General Staff allegedly made this decision due to a shortage of personnel. The source noted that “it is reaching a critical level where we cannot be sure that the air defense can function properly.”
“These people knew how air defense works, some of them were trained in the West and had real skills, and now they are being sent to the front to fight, for which they have no training,” the source said.
In addition, according to the publication's sources, commanders can allegedly use orders to transfer to the front as punishment for those soldiers “they don't like.”
“This has been going on for a year now, but it's getting worse and worse. I have less than half left. A commission has arrived in recent days, and they need dozens more people. I have those who are over 50 and wounded left. It's impossible to manage such things,” said another source.
Reaction of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Ukrainian military insist that such information is not true.
“The statement about the “transfer of air defense to the infantry” is false and incorrect. In order to qualitatively supplement the personnel of military units that are being formed and restoring combat capability, a certain number of servicemen from the units of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have indeed been reassigned to positions in accordance with their military registration specialties. At the same time, this does not apply to professional air defense specialists who ensure the protection of the Ukrainian sky,” the statement says.
As the military command explained, the Air Force has servicemen of various military specialties. In particular, this concerns the reassignment and secondment of some servicemen from the security companies of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, some rear mobile fire groups, as well as personnel who are not involved in the maintenance and operation of high-tech weapons and military equipment.
“The situation on the line of combat contact is difficult, and now the main thing is to hold the front. The decisions to transfer some servicemen from rear units to combat units are aimed at fulfilling this priority task. At the same time, the number of downed Russian “shahids” has not decreased at all. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' air defense system performs its tasks efficiently, distinguishing between real enemy attack drones and unidentified UAVs – mostly false targets, which are most often reported in reports on repelling air attacks as “location lost,” the General Staff added.
Recall that earlier it was reported who would go to the attack aircraft, who to the artillery: how mobilized men are distributed.
