In the interview, he emphasized that he had asked the United States to strengthen sanctions against Russia even before the war began.
«If you are talking to Putin and know that there will be an invasion, act in advance: strengthen us with weapons, impose sanctions,» Zelensky noted.
In addition, he pointed out the lack of reaction from the guarantor countries of the Budapest Memorandum. The President also criticized the position of Alexander Lukashenko, calling his statements about non-involvement in Russia's aggression untenable.
Zelensky expressed confidence in the need to tighten international pressure on the Russian Federation, noting that only tough measures can prevent further escalation.
Zelensky also emphasized that any negotiations with Russia are possible only if certain conditions are met. He pointed out the need to fully restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea and Donbass.
«We must be sure that any concessions will not lead to new threats to our state,» he added.
In his speech, the President of Ukraine also noted the importance of diplomatic support from Western partners.
He expressed gratitude to those countries that provide weapons and financial assistance, calling this a guarantee of strengthening Ukraine's position on the world stage.
Meanwhile, Blinken made a forecast for a change in the front line in Ukraine.
