Ukraine is planning to reform high school, which will remove some subjects from the list of mandatory ones.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Mi100.info.
The press service of the Ministry of Education reported that the innovations will begin to work in 2027, while the pilot project will start in a number of lyceums as early as 2025.
According to the authors of the reform, this will allow students to have more control over choosing their future path. And therefore, the Ministry of Education is reducing the list of mandatory subjects.
What remains is the study of the Ukrainian language and literature, the history of Ukraine, English and mathematics, physical education and “Defense of Ukraine.”
“Every citizen should know this at the proper level,” the statement says.
Students will also have to choose one subject from the list: art, technology, computer science, financial literacy. Thus, foreign literature, world history, civic education, biology/ecology, geography, physics, chemistry will be removed from the list of compulsory subjects.
In order not to deny students comprehensive development, the Ministry of Education and Science also wants to introduce a system of individual selection of subjects both in its profile and outside it. How effective this system will be will become clear after the launch of the pilot project.
Recall that earlier it was reported about the reform of the MSEK: Shmygal told how the expert teams will work.
