In Australia, scientists have discovered the most the largest and most poisonous specimen of the Sydney funnel-web spider.

This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Reuters.

It is known that the large poisonous spider was first found in the early 2000s near the city of Newcastle, which is located 170 kilometers north of Sydney. The arthropod was discovered by spider researcher and former head of the spider department at the Australian Reptile Park Kane Christensen. Due to its impressive size, the spider received the unofficial nickname Big Boy. /p>

“This particular spider is much larger, its venom glands are much larger, and its fangs are much longer”, — he stressed.

In the study, the scientists noted that “Big Boy” will be classified as a separate species of funnel-web spider. The scientists named the nine-centimeter-long spider Atrax christenseni in honor of Christensen's contribution to the study. More common individuals of this species of spiders can grow up to five centimeters.

Recall that it was previously reported that the length of the day on Earth has begun to change: scientists have warned what this means.
