Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico continues to attract attention with loud statements in the international arena.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
This time, the reason for his dissatisfaction was visit of representatives of the Ukrainian opposition to Slovakia. According to Fico, the opposition forces are allegedly preparing a coup d'etat, seeking to seize power in the country and draw it into a military conflict.
The prime minister paid special attention to the termination of the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine, which , in his opinion, was a wrong decision. He said Slovakia was ready to “reciprocate”, which sounds like a threat to worsen relations between the two countries.
«Robert Fico is the Prime Minister of Slovakia, not a Ukrainian servant,» he stressed, demonstrating the independence of his position.
Experts note that such statements create serious risks for the unity of the European Union. Blocking aid to Ukraine by Slovakia could cause a chain reaction among other countries, especially given the rise of populist sentiments in Europe.
Meanwhile, Germany has called for immediate expulsion of Ukrainian refugees.
