According to information from General Staff, in recent months the number of foreign volunteers in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has significantly decreased.
This was reported by “URA-Inform” with reference to the telegram channel “Resident”.
“At the beginning of the war, more than 20,000 foreign fighters arrived in Ukraine, including mercenaries and representatives of private military companies. However, at present, their the number dropped to a few thousand,” – said at the beginning.
Then it was added that the main reasons for the outflow were changes in command, a decline in morale and difficult combat conditions.
“Many foreign fighters expected to be more involved in offensive operations, but they faced protracted trench warfare and high risks. In addition, long stays at the front “without rotation, lack of resources and general fatigue contribute to their decision to leave Ukraine,” — the insider added at the end.
Experts, in turn, believe that the reduction in the number of foreign fighters could affect the combat capability of individual units.
At the same time, the Ukrainian command adapts combat strategies, focusing on training its own personnel and using modern technologies.
Moreover, the insider also warned that Ukraine has decided to intensify repression.
