Minister British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy arrived in Ukraine on 5 February to discuss further cooperation and strengthening the country's security. This was his second visit since his appointment as Foreign Secretary in July 2024. Lemmy announced significant financial assistance to Ukraine, stressing that support is not waning despite the difficult international situation.
This was reported by URA-Inform, citing Zaluzhny's Telegram.
As part of his visit, the minister will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as other high-ranking officials. Ukrainian Ambassador to Britain Valeriy Zaluzhny noted the importance of this visit and noted that they will discuss joint projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine's security.
On the back of the visit, the UK announced an additional £55 million (approximately $68.7 million) in new aid to Ukraine. The funds will go towards several key areas, including Ukrainian grain supplies to Syria, innovative energy projects, rebuilding Ukrainian businesses and supporting family services. This financial support will be a significant contribution to the stabilization and development of Ukraine in the context of the ongoing conflict.
Lemmy stressed that the UK remains steadfast in its determination to help Ukraine in the fight against Russia. It was also noted that the country has already allocated almost 1 billion pounds sterling to support Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
